Case Studies
Sport 4 Life joined the Birmingham Coach Core Programme in 2021 as part of the 3rd cohort and have employed 1 apprentice, Blessing, to support with the delivery of some of their key projects and programmes.
Below, we hear from Craig Corrigan, Training Project Manager at Sport 4 Life about the impact Blessing is having across the organisation.
Why did you decide to employ an apprentice?
We pride ourselves as a charity on investing in young people and we really viewed the apprentice route as an opportunity to evidence this internally. We wanted a coach that would be seen as a role model for the young people that attend our sports sessions.
What impact is Blessing having across the organisation?
Blessing has been having a fantastic impact at our sports sessions and has so far started to make some superb bonds with our young people. We want Blessing to now really focus on developing young people's life skills through sport and help to shape our curriculum.
What projects has Blessing been involved in?
Blessing is delivering two projects a week (A Gym based session & a Boxfit class) that work primarily with unemployed people. We are hopeful that sport can engage and inspire someone who is NEET to reengage with the workplace. Blessing has also been a key delivery member on our half term activities.
