Sport Birmingham is proud to offer a variety of training and development opportunities to support you and your club or community organisation. This section provides an overview of various training services and CPD opportunities for coaches, clubs and community organisations.


Sports Structures

Sport Structures are one of the largest national training providers of education and training services in the sport and physical activity sector. They offer minimum standards for deployment workshops to support coaches and volunteers in sport. As well as continual professional development workshops for those wishing to enhance their knowledge and further their skills.

Sport Structures have extensive experience in delivering, assessing and quality assuring courses. Their flexible customer centric approach means that courses can be delivered in a variety of formats, considering learning styles and timetable needs, whilst achieving the relevant learning outcomes.

Courses can be hosted in the following way:

  • Open courses: Courses delivered to the general public
  • Closed courses: Courses delivered to specific groups or cohorts
  • Bespoke courses: Development of bespoke courses with tailored content to suit organisations. This content can be used as recognition of prior learning where applicable.

Educare

EduCare for Sport is a high-quality online learning service for the Sport and Leisure sector. It is designed to ensure that staff, members and volunteers can always be up-to-date on key duty of care practices to help you maintain a safe environment.

The service is designed to support the whole sports and active leisure sector, including individual sport clubs, coaches, National Governing Bodies, sport organisations, fitness centres, gyms and leisure trusts.

EduCare for Sport provides essential CPD certified-learning courses along with tools to monitor and evidence learning and development progress. There is a package of 18 courses to choose from, on a variety of topics including:

  • Online safety and GDPR
  • Safeguarding and Child Protection
  • First Aid / Concussion
  • Food Hygiene / Health and Safety

Club Matters

Club Matters is the essential one-stop-shop for sports clubs, providing you with support, learning and guidance on all aspects of running a club. Club Matters offers free, simple and bitesize support to all clubs.

Club Matters can help you to improve your club with…

  • Online Support – There will be a range of support available including online toolkits, quick reference guides and e-learning modules.
  • Workshops – Club Matters workshops are free, short training sessions delivered across the country by experts in a range of specific areas.
  • Club Improvement Tool – An online health check for clubs of all sizes and at all stages of their development, to establish where they are performing well and whether they can develop. This will provide your club with a tailored development plan.
  • Club Views - A club review tool allowing you to ask your members and volunteers what they think about your club.

Mind

In partnership with UK Coaching, MIND have developed a FREE online course to support coaches, activators and sports deliverers gain confidence in being able to support people experiencing mental health problems; helping them to thrive inside and outside of your sport and activity sessions.
