The 1st4sport Level 3 Certificate in Supporting the Delivery of Physical Education and School Sport introduces learners to a number of roles in providing Physical Education and School Sport (PESS). The qualification will develop their knowledge and skills to be able to support the delivery of PE and sport programmes in a school sport environment. While it is delivered through the medium of PESS, the skills may be used by learners aspiring to work in other sporting roles, such as coaching.

The qualification is perfect if the learner already works, or aspires to work, in a physical education and school sport setting. It is specifically designed to provide them with a greater understanding of programmes of study for physical education, the national curriculum and the environment in which they will be operating.

Alongside an NGB recognised level 2 coaching qualification, this qualification is recognised as the industry standard qualification for senior children's activity professionals by the trade association for providers of sports and physical activity in schools and the wider community.

What could this qualification lead to?

The 1st4sport Level 3 Certificate in Supporting the Delivery of Physical Education and School Sport (QCF) prepares learners for employment in a school sport setting. It provides an introduction to opportunities for them to work as a physical education and school sport professional; e.g. sports development officer, sports coach, volunteer or leader. What's more, an additional benefit is that completing this qualification can help learners work towards becoming a Teaching Assistant.
