The Active Wellbeing Society 'Happy Healthy Holidays in Edgbaston District' (morning)

This activity takes place Monday to Thursday from 22nd July until 15th August and is suitable for 5 to 11 year olds.

General Information:

Happy Healthy Holidays is a Dept. For Education funded project to provide fun summer holiday activities and food for children across Birmingham. Each child can attend 4 days of provision for 4 weeks of the summer holiday, getting 4 hours of activities including a healthy meal.

How do we register?

Registration is online. Click here.

How do we book places at a particular site?

Places cannot be booked at sites. Spaces at each site will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.

Is this a childcare provision scheme?

No. Each child can only access 4 hours per day, and the scheme is targeted at children who are eligible for free school meals.

What does this cost?

All activities and food are free, as this is funded by the Dept. For Education.

Can I attend more than one session?

No. Each child can attend one 4-hour session each day. At Active Wellbeing Sites with two sessions running, they can only access one session and cannot stay for the whole day.

Am I eligible?

Anyone who either lives in Birmingham or attends a school in Birmingham can attend. Unfortunately, the funding is for the Birmingham local authority area and we cannot accept children from outside this area into our schemes.

Will the food be halal?

Yes. All food served on this scheme will be halal, TAWS will also be avoiding beef entirely. Every site will offer vegan and vegetarian alternatives to a meat/fish dish.

Do parents/guardians need to stay?

Parents and guardians are encouraged to stay but this is not required. Younger siblings may also stay if their parent/guardian stays as well – we cannot care for under 5s.

I have a question about a non-TAWS provider.

You must contact them directly. Their contact details will be on the Sport Birmingham website.

Any other questions

Please ask them to email happyhealthyholidays@theaws.org with any other questions, or take their details and someone from the Happy Healthy Holidays scheme will get back to them.
