Emergency First Aid at Work

Course description

This course covers a range of first aid emergencies and how to deal with them, enabling learners to qualify to the level of Emergency First Aid at Work. Learners will be able to administer Emergency First Aid in the workplace meeting the statutory requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. The course is recognised by OfQual.

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

•Assess and prioritise a first aid incident

•Deal with an unconscious casualty

•Carry out resuscitation (CPR)

•Safely use an AED (Defribrillator)

•Control bleeding and manage shock

•Deal with Heart Attack

•Deal with a casualty suffering burns and scalds

•Deal with a casualty who is choking

•Maintain records

•Use and maintain first aid kits

Who is the course for?

The course is designed for individuals wishing to obtain a First-Aid at Work certificate and be relied upon to perform emergency first-aid in a work environment.

What's the value of this course?

This courses is designed for workplaces that fall into a low risk category. This course can also be used for staff required to be emergency first aiders or for those who wish to support a designated first aider trained via the First Aid at Work course.

Learner eligibility

Learners must be a minimum of least 16 years of age and be able to communicate effectively in English. This workshop involves undertaking practical activity involving kneeling and lying down

Assessment (if applicable)

There will be informal ongoing assessment throughout the course. On successful completion, learners will be awarded an Emergency First Aid at Work certificate approved for the purpose of the Health and Safety (first aid) regulations 1981, which is valid for three years

Format / duration

The course is usually delivered over 1 day (6 hours).
