About Sport Communications Assistant

To assist in the promotion and communication activities of DMUsport. With a focus on social media content generation and copy for website and marketing materials.

Contribute to the development and delivery of DMUsport social media, including:

  • Planning and creating content and messages for DMUsport social media.
  • Active involvement in creation of audio and visual assets for use on social media and online channels, including photos, video, audio and more.
  • Copywriting content, ensuring the appropriate tone of voice is used to best represent the University and department.
  • Posting and responding to comments, encouraging and influencing engagement.
  • Close liaison with DMUsport staff and wider marketing colleagues, in particular the Sports & Participation Communications Officer
  • Assist the department in digital and social media developments, trends and opinion within the student population (current and future students) and use this information to inform/improve DMU Sport communications.

Work with key internal stakeholders, including senior managers, to identify news stories, generating content to use on various platforms.

Maintain the DMUsport area of the website and intranet, ensuring information is up-to-date and interesting.

Produce written copy, working with Sports & Participation Communications Officer, to promote all aspects of the department for the use at Open days and other promotional activities.

Provide support in the organisation, promotion and delivery of DMUsport events.

Support Sports & Participation Communications Officer to develop a bank of Sport images, ensuring a diverse coverage of all sports that represent the diversity of our student body.

Collect and catalogue student profiles and quotes.

Provide statistics of the reach and impact generated media is creating.

Undertake project work as requested

Prepare an end of year report for the department focussing on communications activity, summarising progress of achievement and making recommendations for future developments.

Perform a telephone service for the department to create and maintain network relationships to deliver high levels of customer service.

To support a collaborative team-working environment.
