About Marketing and Insight Manager


Location: Sport Birmingham Office

Responsible to: Senior Partnerships Manager, Wellbeing

Contract type: Permanent

Hours: 37 per week (occasional evenings and weekends)

Salary: £28,000 - £32,000 per annum, dependent on experience. Benefits include access to childcare vouchers, cycle to work scheme and 9% employer pension contribution subject to passing probation successfully


Marketing & Communications:

  • To refine and deliver the Sport Birmingham annual marketing plan in line with the vision, values, brand, projects and services to generate a clearer understanding of our work among partners, influencers and stakeholders
  • To create compelling content and use a range of communication channels such as social media, the Sport Birmingham website, e-newsletters, relevant local networks and publications to present impact and amplify the work of the charity to the wider Birmingham area
  • To help drive the development and delivery of marketing and communications plans and campaigns for all projects, programmes and events to support their successful delivery
  • To ensure the principles of behaviour change are applied to our communication and marketing activity, supporting partners / deliverers to adopt these principles where appropriate
  • To lead on the development of an effective digital strategy with a particular focus on the customer journey and the effective use of open data
  • To write and issue press releases and develop strong relationships with the local press in order to secure regular PR coverage as part the charity's work
  • To work with any external design agencies and suppliers to ensure that all marketing collateral is produced efficiently, in line with brand guidelines` and is cost effective
  • To manage the marketing budget, setting an annual expenditure plan and monitoring expenditure against spend


  • To conduct quantitative and qualitative research and evaluation of sport and physical activity projects/programmes to inform future planning and investment decisions; demonstrate impact and build an evidence base
  • Devise, implement and embed monitoring and evaluation practices and materials; research and insight methods across the organisation
  • Maintain and maximise adoption of the Sport Birmingham CRM (Salesforce) to optimise effective database management and enhance local relationships
  • Utilise the Local Insight Tool to include generating real-time reports and mapping in line with project planning and review processes, identifying gaps in existing insight and, where appropriate, ensuring these are addressed
  • To lead on the design and production of data visualisation and impact reports for key workstreams and to present progress against KPIs via CRM dashboards to senior management
  • To support the development of surveys and a suite of tools to help in the application of insight within the team to understand impact on strategic priorities and to support local partners
  • To collaborate and engage with Insight leads from Active Partnerships in the WM and across the network to share best practice and drive organisational improvement in this area
