
Empower LGBT+ Coordinator
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and passionate individual to lead on the implementation and success of our new PLPFA funded Empower LGBT+ project. The role includes coordinating and delivering physical activity and sports opportunities for LGBT+ young people aged 11-25. The project aims to provide opportunities for LGBT+ people to develop their skills and confidence through sport and provide education and training to establish safer and more inclusive communities. The applicant will be at forefront of championing equality, diversity and inclusion for LGBT+ young people in Sheffield using the inspiring brand of Sheffield United and the Premier League.

About Empower LGBT+ Coordinator
High Level Summary:
Term: Fixed term until 31st August 2023
Salary: £18,000 – £21,000 per annum

About the role:
The candidate will be passionate about addressing inequalities in sport for LGBT+ people and have a strong desire to promote, champion and action LGBT+ equality and inclusion in sport, and in general. The role will be critical in supporting the Foundation and Sheffield United FC in creating a safer, stronger and more inclusive community for everyone to participate in physical activity and help amplify LGBT+ voices in sport.
The Empower LGBT+ project vision is for our LGBT+ community to be more active and feel stronger and more confident in their ability to succeed in sport and physical activity, to eliminate LGBT+ discrimination and help LGBT+ people feel they belong within the Sheffield Community.
The role will require working in schools and during community time, which includes evenings and weekends, to provide project specific initiatives at a time and place which meet the needs of LGBT+ young people aged 11-25.
Applicants should have a good knowledge and understanding of youth engagement and knowledge and experience of the barriers and inequalities affecting LGBT+ communities. It is desirable that the candidate have experience of planning and coordinating inclusive sports participation projects but most of all a positive, can do attitude to creating change and supporting LGBT+ young people develop their skills and confidence.
