About Assistant Sports Development Officer (Disability)

We are looking to recruit an Assistant Sports Development Officer (Disability), who will support and develop opportunities for disabled people (adults and children) to access physical activities within Somerset. They will plan and deliver safe and purposeful sessions in a variety of settings to disabled people as well as liaising with external stakeholders and partners to provide more partnership opportunities. This individual will have confidence in adapting activities, so sessions are suitable for a wide range of people for example those with learning disabilities, physical/sensory disabilities, families, and inter-generational groups where appropriate.

The introduction of an Assistant Sports Development Officer (Disability) will help support the growing need for inclusive and accessible sports and physical activity opportunities, which not only helps to improve the physical wellbeing of individuals, but their mental and social wellbeing too. The recent pandemic has meant that these individuals are needing more support than ever with these elements of their wellbeing.

The successful candidate will have good communication, a strong work ethos and passion for the role, and will be able to work well individually and as part of a team.
