This Sunday the West Midlands will host a new 100 mile closed road cycling event called Velo Birmingham.
More than 15,000 riders are expected to turn out on the day with 5,000 racing cyclists and 10,000 leisure cyclists.
The fully-closed route will take cyclists on a journey through Worcestershire via Sandwell and Dudley, plus a new 20-mile section through Staffordshire, before returning to the finish line in Broad Street. See the full route here
More than £1 million is expected to be raised for good causes including official charity partners Alzheimer's Society, NSPCC, Cure Leukaemia and Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity.
Sport Birmingham were gifted five charity spaces and will have riders raising funds for next year's Birmingham Inclusive Sports Festival. Despite the success of the festival week, Sport Birmingham do not receive any direct funding to run the event each year, and instead aim to fundraise and source sponsorship from various sources.
