Funded by Starworks, Limbformation will be a website, providing support to children and families living with limb difference. Limbformation will be designed as an easy to use one-stop shop, offering information, resources, links and advice. In addition to children and families, the website will also offer guidance and resources to professionals working with these children, including both those who are born with a congenital limb disorder and those who have experienced an amputation.
It has become clear through research that there needed to be a family-friendly website, with access to all of the required information around coming to terms with limb loss and limb difference and living with limb loss and limb difference. Limbformation will offer a child specific platform offering downloadable information, practical advice to support the child's journey and other useful material. Limbformation will be a practical resource designed to connect all areas of life for a child living with limb difference.
Carly Bauert, Limbformation Project Manager said, "One of the main focuses of this website will be to inform parents as early as the prenatal scans about the charities, resources and services available to help them and their child come to terms with limb loss, limb absence and limb difference. The team want to offer support and empower parents from the moment they first discover their child has a limb difference, and to take a further step in fighting the isolation that many families feel".
We have a fantastic project team working on this project including staff from three leading Universities, St Mary's, York and Leeds. We will be utilising the research carried out by Devices for Dignity, through the Starworks Project over the last 18 months to inform and direct the build of this website.
This project will be managed by LimbPower. For further information please contact Carly Bauert at carly@limbpower.comor on 01453 886940.
