Nikki and Helen are now trained Volunteer Run Leaders with Run Birmingham. They were both nominated by Sally (A Run Activator for Run Birmingham) for the Birmingham Community awards and both equally deserve recognition for their commitment and support for the community of Birmingham.
Nikki, 28, mum of 3, has gone from strength to strength since starting her running journey. At the beginning, she never thought she would be able to take up running and had a lot of self-doubt. After building up some confidence through running, she returned to work, has many attributes to new adventures and now believes in herself so much more!
Nikki also decided to go back to college to give herself a chance at a career, studying Pre access to Health & Social Care to do Paramedic Science.

Helen, 41, mum of 2, is a fantastic role model and inspiration to many. She started running to try and become more healthy and active and to shed some weight. We have seen her confidence grow enough over the last year to allow her to realise what she can offer others in her community by helping them at the start of their running journey.
Helen was often the "one at the back" at the beginning of her journey, but always kept going. She is one that understands people's struggles and supports them through to achieve their goals.
She completed Couch to 5K in April 2017
Ran her first 10K in May 2017
Ran her first Half Marathon in October 2017
Has lost 2 stone since the start of her running journey and is proud of what she has achieved so far
