The Birmingham School Games 2018/19 come to a conclusion next month with the final events of a very busy year.
The School Games Summer Festivals held at King Edward School and King Edward High School Edgbaston are the showpiece events of the calendar and see over 2000 children participating in sports activities and competitions across two days. The Secondary School Festival will be held on Thursday 11th July, with the Primary School event the following day.
The events will see young people participating in a range of sports from netball and atheltics, to boccia and tri-golf. All of the participating schools will have entered through their local inter-school competitions that are organised by the School Games Organiser network across the city that help to increase the amount of physical activity on offer to our young people.
Our previous School Games event was our Primary Tennis competition which took place on Friday 21st June at Cannon Hill Park. The competition was a great success with 80 pupils competing in both the Year 3-4 and Year 5-6 competition, and the eventual winners in both age group were Coppice Primary School.
We are grateful to the support of the many individuals and organisations that have helped the Birmingham School Games run smoothly this year - and plans are already in place to develop the offer for 2019/20 to attract even more young people from across the city to be involved in the School Games.
Following the events, we will post a review of the year and sharing the main successes.
