James' Story: A month of fundraising for Cure Leukaemia's CEO
Posted: Wed, 11 Sep 2019 16:13
It's that time of the year in Blood Cancer Awareness Month where I am 'encouraged' to get back on my bike to take on the 300 mile bike ride from London 2 Paris, setting off next Thursday morning!
I am very mindful that many of you have kindly sponsored me before and that I've done the ride before… so this year to try and find an extra reason to try and persuade as many of you to find a few pounds I am not only taking on the L2P ride next week but 4 weeks later I will be getting the trainers on to take on the Birmingham Half Marathon on October 13th
My cycling isn't great at the best of times and my running isn't so clever now BUT neither are good enough excuses NOT to do what I can to raise as much money as I can.
Why do we need the funds?
On London 2 Paris there will be a number of former patients taking on the 300 mile challenge including the inspirational 23 year old Brooke Evans.
Brooke was diagnosed with leukaemia at the age of 17.
Not only has Brooke beaten the illness, last year she qualified as a Haematology Nurse and a few months ago began work as a Nurse looking after leukaemia patients on the same ward where she was treated!
She has always been so positive and this is why we need to keep raising funds to ensure amazing people like Brooke get the best chance of beating the disease to get back living life to the full.
If you get 2 mins to watch Brooke's video I hope it will bring a smile to your face.
If after watching Brooke's story you'd like to find a few pounds towards my £2,000 target it would be greatly appreciated
Thank you for your support to James and the cause Cure Leukaemia.
