Working from home tips from the Sport Birmingham Team!
Posted: Fri, 01 May 2020 14:45
Over the next few weeks, our team will be sharing how they've been adapting to working from home. This week, you'll meet Mike, our Chief Executive, Becks, our Project Coordinator (Intern), and Alison, our Youth & Community Reach Out Manager.
Q1 –Top tips for the times
- Staying in touch with team
- Setting a routine, but allowing flexibility when needed
- Building in breaks outside
- Fidget and stretch, stand up regularly during meetings
- Timing rest of house stuff and family parts to fit in (like dog walks and homework at important meet times)
Q2 – What does your typical day look like?
My desk is in the open living area so mute is key during meets . I don't dress up for work & struggle to get in the work mindset! I deliberately set alarm for 6am to do 2 early stints each week (rather than 4 normally) Exercise is part of my every day so I look forward to it at the end of the working day which includes cross-training in the garage gym or garden circuit. I also include family activities such as a bike or scooter ride . I enjoy a nice drink (or two) around family evening meal and most importantly stay in touch with friends on a number of WhatsApp groups throughout.

Q1 –Top tips for the times
KEEP MOVING!! It's hard when we are all working from home to be as active as usual. Don't sit in one place for too long, get up and move, even if it's a few star jumps whilst waiting for the kettle to boil for your next cup of tea!
Q2 – What does your typical day look like?
Keeping a routine in these times can be hard but I always start by writing a to-do list for the day! I'm still working on lots of my current projects, keeping up with emails and making sure to stay in touch with the rest of the Sport Birmingham team. After work I go for a walk to get some fresh air and obviously do some hula hooping!!! Stay safe everyone :)

Q1 – Top tips for the times
Make sure you have contact with people and when you are feeling low speak to them and remember some funny thing that has happened with that person, remember you are not alone. Play your favourite music and don't be frightened to make a fool of yourself. Try and go for a walk you may see people and just say hi you don't have to get close to them you can say it from over the road.
Q2 – What does your typical day look like?
My day is getting up in the morning around 7.30 have my breakfast watch the news and then switch on my laptop, stop for lunch have a stretch and walk around then get back to work that could be goto meeting or just work on the MAD phase 2. After work go for a walk with the dogs have a couple of drinks watch a film with my hubby (after he has fed me again). Then go to bed.
Boring really but routine does help me.
