Bhangra Blaze Xpress (BBX) is a Bhangra fitness business which delivers a range of workouts to people of all/mixed ability, ages and backgrounds in order to boost fitness levels, energy, co-ordination and happiness! Owner and lead Fitness Instructor, Bally Bhogal of BBX (formerly Bhangra Blaze Sutton Coldfield) started delivering evening classes in 2016 in Sandwell to small groups of attendees, having had a passion for Bhangra dancing all her life and having personally experienced the power of Bhangra workouts.
Being of Sikh origin, Bally was 'born into Bhangra' hence the music, language, culture and heritage have been strong positive constants and influences since birth, however as a young child and during her teens, she battled with her weight primarily due to lack of movement and overeating (by her own admission). "Things were very different growing up in the 80's and 90's…" said Bally, "…there was no health education in the home and no access to fitness classes. It was generally socially unacceptable for girls to be exercising outdoors, cycling around on the streets, going to the gym, etc. Things really have changed since then!"
When Bally met Michael (her husband), that's when things started to change. Michael, a fitness fanatic and athlete himself, taught Bally about food and nutrition, weight training and toning. Using this insight, Bally transformed her own body and having had two babies, she decided to help others to achieve the same via Bhangra fitness classes.
The first wave of classes consistently welcomed 15-20 attendees, which rapidly grew to 40-50 attendees on average, with some classes swelling to over 60 Bhangra Blazers! Close collaboration with sports partners and charitable events e.g. Community Games 2017-2020, YMCA's Sleep Easy 2018-2019, Mental Health Challenge with MIND 2018 and Christmas with Birmingham Settlement 2019, as well as social events such as Curry Nights 2016-2020 and the Bhangra Blaze Christmas Party 2020, have helped to cement the brand and the relationships of the class goers inside and outside of the classes. The classes have also helped to boost the self-confidence, self-belief, mental and emotional resilience of participants in relation to everyday stress, anxiety and daily demands.
When Coronavirus hit in March 2020, the classes ceased without any notice. Bally implemented FREE Facebook 'LIVE' Bhangra Classes, every Monday 8pm-8:30pm to keep up the spirits, positivity and energy levels of all those attending. The business has also been rebranded to Bhangra Blaze Xpress (BBX) with a new logo, on demand workouts platform available at https://bbx.mypthub.net/3/p/103971 at only £10/month and a brand new website COMING SOON!
BBX has been born out of Covid-19 and has the infrastructure to grow into new areas! Bally has already been delivering *LIVE* Facebook Bhangra Classes and has now launched *LIVE* Virtual Classes, for BBX subscribers (at no extra charge) and non-BBX subscribers. Opportunities to develop the diversity of the BBX content towards different sectors are also emerging, as are new opportunities to deliver LIVE virtual classes for corporates and charities e.g. delivering weekly Virtual BBX Classes for Birmingham Settlement. Bally is actively encouraging other sports organisations to step out of their comfort zones and to innovate. Should any potential partners and organisations want to collaborate with BBX then feel free to get in touch with Bally Bhogal for an informal chat via firstname.lastname@example.org or via BhangraBallyB on Facebook and Instagram!
