National Fitness Day: New Street Train Station Take Over

New Street Station will undergo another massive transformation tomorrow, Wednesday 22nd September, when Birmingham-based gym equipment manufacturing company Iron King turns the station into a fully equipped gym, as part of National Fitness Day celebrations. In partnership with Network Rail, the event will be held on Wednesday 22nd September at Birmingham New Street Station, between 7:30am - 4:30pm and will provide the commuters of Birmingham lots of free fitness fun.Iron King will be joined by Unique-U Sports and Fitness and PureGym, who will be running classes free fitness session throughout the day, including:

  • CIRCUITS - 7:30am - 8:30am with Unique-U
  • MOBILITY, YOGA & TRX - 10am - 12pm with Unique-U
  • KETTLE / BURN IT SESSION - 12pm - 1pm with PureGym
  • HIIT - 1pm - 2pm with Unique-U
  • LIFTING SESSION - 3:30pm - 4:30pm with Unique-U

National Fitness Day, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary, has the theme of "Fitness Unites Us", demonstrating how physical activity can bring together people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to have fun, keep active and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Their hashtag #Fitness2Me promotes that keeping physically active means something different to us all, and hopes to break down barriers that stop people from participating in these activities. This is especially important following over a year of lockdowns, with people moving less than they used to. It also promotes the importance of fitness and leisure facilities as an essential and safe environment during post-pandemic recovery.Iron King hopes that people will join the event and hopefully help kick start their fitness journey, as Iron King founder Henry Atkinson explains; " We are a Birmingham based company, and giving back to the community is something that is really important to us. We are really looking forward to turning this iconic station into a fully working gym offering free fitness fun throughout the day.We want to offer attendees something fun, whether it be an escape from their daily commute or offer the chance to get the blood pumping, we just want to help showcase the benefits both physically and mentally that doing a little bit of exercise can offer."Iron King will be offering support past the day itself with their 30 days of fitness competition, which could see one lucky winner bagging over £1000 of Iron King gym equipment.

Tickets for the classes are available here; it is recommended that those who want to join in register, as there will be limited spaces. To find out more about Iron King, take a look at their website.
