Jodie founded JC Social Media, a social media marketing agency in 2011, now a team of 15 who manage the social media for local and international clients. Jodie has written a series of books on digital marketing and developed Flaunt – a Chrome extension-based social media reporting tool for agencies.
Whilst running JC Social Media, Jodie became fascinated the reasons why some people find it comparatively straightforward to set up their own business. The conclusion was: role models. Jodie and her husband decided to create some positive, entrepreneurial role models in the form of children's storybooks – Clever Tykes. The series includes Change-it Cho, a feisty social entrepreneur who loves running races and champions healthy eating.
In January 2017 Clever Tykes books, resources and digital enterprise portal were delivered to all 23,500 primary schools in the UK, thanks to sponsorship from Lloyds Banking Group, and are determined to replicate this in countries across the world.
In 2014 Jodie was crowned overall winner of Birmingham Young Professional of the Year. In 2017 Jodie and her Clever Tykes cofounder were included in Forbes 30 under 30 social entrepreneurs in Europe list.
As well as being a trustee of Sport Birmingham, she is on the board of Silicon Canal, a CIC that supports the tech ecosystem in Greater Birmingham, and Birmingham Metropolitan College's Creative & Digital Academy. In her spare time, Jodie is a competitive powerlifter and non-competitive mountain climber!
